Cambodia’s Sarinreach Finds Form in Bangkok

After exiting the main stage in the second round, Cambodia’s Leng Sarinreach remained unbeaten in the back draw with his win on Friday against seventh-seeded Siavash Shirdel of Iran earning him a ranking of 17 out of the 43 players competing in the two-week ITF/ATF 14 & Under Development Tennis Championships, which concluded in Bangkok on Saturday.

With three wins in a row boosting his confidence, the 13-year-old lasted out a first-set tie-break against his Iranian rival, who clawed his way back by taking the second set.

In a tense super tie-break, Sarinreach closed out the match at 7-6, 6-4,10-8. While Sarinreach made the best of the Compass Draw format, his teammate Sam Davith was out of sorts.

His 6-7,2-6 loss to Sherab Rinzin of Bhutan meant the 11-year-old Cambodian finish second last in the overall rankings.
