Mini Tennis in the Mix at THF Dental Camp

Cambodian NGO Three Hearts Foundation and one of its steadfast partners, Tennis Cambodia, jointly organised the third of its four quarterly dental care awareness programs with a touch of mini tennis thrown in for 84 boys and girls from the Happyland Orphanage in Phnom Penh on Friday.

The event was part of THF’s signature health-care initiative, the A-Ha-Ha Project, which has been actively supported by the medical faculty and volunteers from the University of Health Sciences for the past three years.

One of the features of the event was the return of the basic tennis lessons for the participants after the first two camps of the year had focused mainly on dental care and health issues.

In her opening remarks, THF managing director Hisae Arai said the recent signing of the memorandum of understanding between THF and the University of Health Sciences had considerably strengthened the project.

“Tennis Cambodia’s passionate involvement has made boys and girls aware of the value of tennis as a means to stay healthy and active besides providing them a spot of fun on court,” Hisae Arai said.

“This is part of our commitment to make lives better for children through tennis. The federation and the members of the national team are proud of our involvement with a far-sighted project like this,’’ said Tep Rithivit, secretary-general of Tennis Cambodia.

During the program, the THF released a new A-Ha-Ha project theme song to add to the fun and excitement. The song highlighted the values of good dental care children ought to develop as a lesson for life.
