With today as the final day of the pre-qualifying wraps up, Kenny Bun looks for the win in the qualifying draw.

Bun faced Kasidit Samrej, also of Thailand and beat the Junior 6-2 7-5. The tall and lanky Kasidit possessed big ground strokes but wasn’t able to keep them in nearly enough in the first. In the second set, Bun went up 4-1, and struggled a bit with his serve and allowed Kasidit to pull even and then take the lead 5-4. Bun broke back to make it 5- all, held serve and broke once more to take the set 7-5. Both play tomorrow morning in the final round of qualifying.

Phalkun Mam’s second match on Sunday did not fare well as he lost to a Thai junior player, Thantap Suksamran.  The first set was fairly close, Mam fighting but getting his serve broken late to lose 7-5. Mam was out of gas and couldn’t continue to chase after Thantap’s accurate ball placement side to side, losing the second set 6-3 with one break.

Monday Qualifying Rounds Commence

The third day of the Singha Bangkok Open and we have begun the qualifying rounds after finishing up the pre-qualifying rounds. Today Long Samneang faced Jirayu Limpatum of Thailand and won against the 9th seed 6-3 6-3. Jirayu played crafty tennis, hitting many drop shots and slicing a lot, but Samneang kept steady and cruised to a straight set win.
