Really wish you all could be here today to celebrate as we just became the first ever recipient of the Global Organization of Distinction Award and have officially entered into the ITF Hall of Fame. Presenting the award was none other than CEO of the ITF Hall of Fame, Todd Martin, two-time Grand Slam Finalist and former world #4 ranked ATP player from the United States.
Receiving the award was the most deserving and the driving force behind the cause, Tep Rithivit, who teared up once he knew we had won the award. In his acceptance speech, he dedicates the award to the late Tep Khunnah, his father and also coined by some as the Father of Cambodian Tennis. As Rithi made the steps onto the stage, the entire room of AGM delegates rose up to give a standing ovation in approval.
“I want to dedicate this to the 2 million people that died, and also dedicate it to my father. I think we have arrived, all we ever wanted was to be part of the concert of Tennis nations and I am incredibly honored to have received this award.”
In the beginning of his speech he called Todd Martin a “great actor,” as Todd didn’t give any hints or clues and not even a mention of the award the day before in their 15 minute conversation.
It was a very successful AGM overall with Vietnam Tennis Federation showing the world that they can organize such a prestigious event, and probably the most important event for the ITF.
