Tennis Cambodia in Battambang

Thursday, April 28, 2016: Written by Tennis Cambodia

This week, Phalkun Man, head of junior development and Laura Pola, program coordinator, joined forces with the volunteers and Mgr. Kike of the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang exploring projects and joining the children on court for tennis sessions in the afternoon.

There were many familiar faces met during Sunday Mass in Tahen as many of the children are tennis players traveling to Phnom Penh to play in the junior national tournaments several times a year. Tennis Cambodia was welcomed with opened arms, and enjoyed several dances from the children during Mass.

As Monday afternoon arrived, we could tell the children were excited to play some tennis. Below, are the few last points played before the session was complete.

Throughout the time in Battambang, Tennis Cambodia had the opportunity in visiting other projects with Cosme Colmenero, a volunteer from Spain, that took us around on a tour to several schools and families that are in the projects.

Tuesday afternoon, we hit the courts to La Paloma House working with the children with disabilities. The children had tennis instruction and played many games throughout their time on the court. Click to download relay race here.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers and the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang for their time. For more information about other projects and visiting the church please click to visit their website.
